How this assistant handles data

The assistant is an AI system, not Joshua. It answers from a curated public knowledge base, can be wrong, and should never receive confidential or sensitive information.

What is sent when you ask a question

Your message and up to 12 recent turns from the current conversation are sent through this site's server to the Anthropic API so a response can be generated. The assistant does not need your name, email address, or account information.

Do not submit personal, employer- or plant-sensitive, customer, credential, legal, medical, financial, or other confidential data.

Storage, retention, and model training

This application code does not write chat messages to a database, log prompt text, or persist the conversation after you reload or leave the page. The chat code does not set cookies. It uses a temporary, IP-derived key in server memory for basic rate limiting; prompt text is not stored with that key.

Anthropic states that API inputs and outputs are deleted from its backend within 30 days by default, subject to exceptions such as usage policy enforcement, legal requirements, or different contractual settings. Anthropic also states that commercial API inputs and outputs are not used to train its models by default. Review Anthropic's current API retention policy and model-training policy for the controlling details and exceptions.

Site analytics

This site uses Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights for aggregate traffic and performance measurement. Vercel says Web Analytics does not use third-party cookies, and that both products are designed not to identify individual visitors or reconstruct browsing sessions.
